Morocco desert adventure: from Fez to Marrakech in 3 days

Day 1: Fez–Ifrane–Azrou–Ziz Valley–Merzouga Desert
We begin our adventure from Fez, departing early in a private vehicle toward the Erg Chebbi Desert, one of the most spectacular in the Moroccan Sahara.
We will cross the Middle Atlas, passing through Ifrane, known as the “Little Switzerland of Morocco”, with its alpine-style houses and cedar forests. In the Azrou area, we will discover Berber rural life and make stops to enjoy the landscape and the fresh mountain air.
After a free lunch, we continue south, passing through Errachidia and Erfoud, until reaching the impressive Ziz Valley, a vast oasis winding between canyons and endless palm groves—a natural setting that seems straight out of an adventure movie.
In the afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga, at the edge of the Sahara. Here begins one of the most intense experiences of the trip: a camel excursion across the dunes of Erg Chebbi, guided by a Berber nomad. We will climb to the top of a large dune to watch an unforgettable sunset before venturing into the heart of the desert.
Dinner and overnight stay in a desert camp, under a breathtaking starry sky and complete silence.
Day 2: Desert–Rissani–Todra Valley–Dades Gorges
We wake up early to experience one of the most magical moments of the trip: sunrise in the Sahara Desert, as the dunes change color before our eyes.
After breakfast, we head west. We visit Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalt, famous for its traditional market and vast palm groves. We continue through Tinjdad and Tinghir, until reaching the spectacular Todra Valley and Gorges.
Here, we will take a hike between rock walls over 300 meters high, a paradise for nature and adventure lovers. Free time to enjoy the surroundings and have lunch on your own.
In the afternoon, we continue to the Dades Gorges, traveling along one of the most beautiful roads in southern Morocco.
Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel in the heart of Dades.
Day 3: Dades–Valley of the Roses–Ouarzazate–Ait Ben Haddou–Telouet–Marrakech
After breakfast, we begin the final leg of this Morocco adventure route. We cross the Valley of the Roses, known for its landscapes and adobe villages.
We arrive in Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert and the center of Moroccan cinema. We visit the famous Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site, one of the best-preserved fortified villages in the country and the setting for films such as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia.
We continue to the Kasbah of Telouet, the former residence of the El Glaoui family, located on the historic caravan route that connected the Sahara with Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains.
Crossing the High Atlas Mountains, we arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon. Transfer to your riad or hotel.
