A Great Adventure Through the Moroccan Desert: From Fez to Marrakech in 4 Days

Day 1: Fez–Ifrane–Azrou–Ziz Valley–Merzouga (Erg Chebbi Desert)
We’ll pick you up at your riad or hotel in Fez to begin our journey to the Erg Chebbi Desert, one of the most breathtaking in the Moroccan Sahara.
We’ll cross the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing through Ifrane, known as the “Little Switzerland of Morocco” for its architecture and natural surroundings. The cedar forests and lush vegetation of this region offer unique landscapes.
We will continue on to Azrou, famous for its crafts and Berber atmosphere. We will make scenic stops and allow time for lunch on your own. Later, we will pass through Errachidia and Erfoud, key cities in southern Morocco.
Stop in the spectacular Ziz Valley, home to Morocco’s largest palm grove, which stretches along the Ziz River between impressive canyons and small traditional villages.
Arrival in the late afternoon or evening in Merzouga, in the heart of the Erg Chebbi Desert.
Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel (Merzouga).
Day 2: Erg Chebbi Desert – 4x4 adventure, nomads, and luxury camp
After breakfast, we’ll set out on a 4×4 excursion through the Merzouga Desert. We’ll visit the Merzouga Oasis, walking through the ancient settlements of the first nomads who founded the villages of Merzouga and Hassilabied.
We’ll visit Berber nomadic families, where we’ll share a cup of tea under their authentic tents and learn about their history, traditions, and way of life in this extreme environment of dunes and desert mountains.
At midday, we’ll arrive in Khamlia, a desert village located 7 km from Merzouga, known for its Gnawa population of sub-Saharan origin. We’ll enjoy a live performance of their traditional music and dances.
Traditional lunch featuring Berber pizza, return to the hotel, and a short rest.
In the afternoon, one of the most iconic experiences of the trip will begin: a camel excursion through the dunes of Erg Chebbi, guided by an expert nomad.
We will climb the great dune to watch an unforgettable sunset and continue on to the camp in the heart of the desert.
Dinner and overnight stay at the luxury camp, under a unique starry sky.
Day 3: Desert–Rissani–Todra Valley–Dades Gorges
We’ll wake up early to enjoy the sunrise in the Sahara Desert—a magical moment of the trip.
After breakfast, we’ll head to the Dades Gorges. Along the way, we’ll visit Rissani, known for its traditional market, its donkey park, and for being Morocco’s date capital.
We’ll continue through Tinjdad and Tinghir until we reach the Todra Valley and Gorges, where we’ll take a hike through its impressive canyon, surrounded by rock walls and palm groves.
Lunch on your own, and in the afternoon, we’ll continue on to the Dades Gorges.
Dinner and overnight stay at the Riad Hotel, located in the heart of the Dades.
Day 4: Dades–Valley of the Roses–Ouarzazate–Ait Ben Haddou–Telouet–Marrakech
After breakfast, we’ll set off for Marrakech along one of the most beautiful routes in southern Morocco.
We will cross the Valley of Roses and arrive in Ouarzazate, known as the gateway to the desert and the Hollywood of Morocco. We will visit the impressive Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, built of rammed earth and designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the setting for films such as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia.
We’ll continue to the Kasbah of Telouet, the former palace of the El Glaoui family and a key stop on the historic caravan route that connected the Sahara with Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains.
Arrival in Marrakech in the afternoon and transfer to your riad or hotel.
End of our trip together in Marrakech.
