Weekend in the Desert: Ouarzazate and Erg Chebbi

Day 1: Ouarzazate – Draa Valley – Desert
Arrival at Ouarzazate airport, where our journey to the Erg Chebbi desert begins. Along the way, we will pass through:
- Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest river (1,100 km), featuring an impressive belt of palm trees and mountains in ochre, red, and purple hues.
- Small Berber villages that preserve their traditions and adobe architecture.
In the afternoon, arrival in Merzouga, where our team will transfer us by 4×4 to the camels. We will ride over the dunes to the camp in the heart of the desert, enjoying Berber music around the campfire and a traditional dinner under an unforgettable starry sky.
Day 2: Desert – Todra – Dades – Valley of the Roses – Ouarzazate
Wake up early to enjoy the sunrise over the dunes, a natural spectacle blending warm colors and unique shadows. After breakfast, we begin the journey back to Ouarzazate, passing through:
Rissani, an ancient hub of the Sahara caravan routes to Senegal, famous for its traditional animal market and the Tafilalet oasis.
Tinghir and the Todra Valley, where we will take a walk through the canyon and admire its towering rock walls and palm groves.
Dades Gorges and the Valley of the Roses, with panoramic stops to admire the mountains turning pink at sunset.
Arrival in Ouarzazate at sunset. Dinner and overnight stay in a traditional riad.
Day 3: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Airport
After breakfast, visit Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Desert” and Morocco’s Hollywood, famous for its film studios and role in major productions.
Then, explore the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site, built with adobe and rammed earth, featuring impressive kasbahs and movie sets seen in films like Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia.
In the afternoon, return to Ouarzazate and transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
